TCL PlayCube Specifications

The PlayCube uses a TI 0.33-inch DMD chip that TCL says delivers 103 percent more pixels than smaller 0.23-inch chips. It supports native 1080p resolution with 4K playback and covers 124 percent of the REC.709 color gamut. The projector reaches 750 ISO lumens of brightness, making it suitable for different lighting conditions.

TCL includes its ImmersiColor technology for improved contrast and depth. It integrates an Osram three-color LED light source that simulates natural sunlight for softer visuals. The device supports projection sizes ranging from 30 to 150 inches and comes with automatic focus, keystone correction, and obstacle avoidance for easier setup and clearer viewing.

The cube design allows 90-degree rotation for angle adjustments without a stand or mount. It comes with a 66Wh battery that powers up to three hours of playback. TCL claims that a 30-minute charge provides an extra hour of use, making it convenient for quick viewing sessions.

The PlayCube runs Google TV, so users do not need an external dongle. It comes with official Netflix certification, pre-installed apps, and Google Cast support for streaming from phones or tablets. Google Assistant enables hands-free voice control, and the projector can also control connected smart home devices.

The PlayCube has a 5W speaker with Dolby Digital Plus and EQ modes tuned for movies, music, and sports. TCL uses a copper heat pipe system to improve thermal performance, which it claims is 50 percent more efficient than rivals. The projector operates at 26dB or lower, keeping fan noise to a minimum.

The TCL PlayCube is available in the United States for $799. Details on European availability are expected later. TCL is marketing it as a portable option for home theaters, gaming, and outdoor movie nights.
