New shipment data from RUNTO Technology shows that China’s TV market continued to decline in November 2025, with most major brands reporting lower shipment volumes. Total shipments reached approximately 3.22 million units, a slight drop from the previous month and a steep 15.7% fall compared to November 2024.

The decline reflects ongoing challenges in the market. Government subsidies have gradually tapered off, and earlier pent-up demand appears to be exhausted. Since mid-year, the market has posted monthly declines of around 10%, showing consistent weakness despite major sales events.

November featured the country’s longest-running Double 11 sales campaign, but promotions failed to revive demand. Retail sales volume dropped 19.6% year-on-year, while retail revenue fell by 22.1%. The figures suggest that aggressive discounting is no longer enough to offset broader consumer caution.

RUNTO Technology November 2025 Report

Despite the downturn, TCL remained one of the strongest players in the market. Alongside Hisense and Skyworth, TCL helped lead a group that shipped a combined 1.98 million units. The trio’s combined market share reached 61.6%, and their year-on-year decline was limited to 11.2%, lower than the overall market drop. TCL continues to strengthen its lineup with Mini LED and QLED models, contributing to its stable performance.

Xiaomi, including its Redmi TV brand, ranked third with 530,000 units shipped and a 16.5% share. Brands like Changhong, Haier, and Konka followed, but recorded a combined shipment drop of 13.8%. Huawei, Samsung, and Sony reported shipments in the tens of thousands, maintaining a limited presence in the domestic market.

RUNTO Technology estimates that full-year shipments in 2025 may fall to around 33 million units. The firm expects further contraction in 2026 as market saturation and weakened buying sentiment continue to pressure sales.

What sets TCL apart from other brands when it comes to TVs is the pricing. The company offers a wide range of options in the sub $500 category, where you can easily score models with 50-65-inch sizes. When there are many options, picking the one TV that suits your needs can get tough. Below are five strong options in the sub $500 price segment to clear that confusion.

Best TCL TVs Under $500

1. TCL QM6K Mini-LED

– Best Overall Under $500

TCL QM6K

The TCL QM6K is considered TCL’s best-value Mini-LED TV. This brings quantum dots, up to 500 local dimming zones, and around 700-nit HDR brightness at budget prices. You get a 144Hz native refresh rate, Motion Rate 480 with MEMC Frame Insertion, AIPQ Pro Processor with Deep Learning AI, and Google TV smart OS. The TCL TV gets new Filmmaker Mode, IMAX Enhanced Certification, and Dolby Vision IQ. For audio, the TV gets you an Onkyo 2.1 speaker system with Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual: X.

It is available in multiple sizes from 50 to 65 inches. You can score the 65-inch model for under $500 during the holiday sale.

2. TCL QM5K Mini-LED

– Runner-Up Picture Quality

TCL QM5K

This Best Buy-exclusive TCL QM5K Mini-LED TV comes with up to about 300 local dimming zones. It offers contrast close to the QM6K but with a 60Hz native panel. There’s an Onkyo 2.1 speaker system with Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual: X. The AiPQ processor uses AI to control contrast, motion, color, clarity, and upscaling. There’s HDR10 Pro+ with HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG, and 240Hz Motion Rate.

The 65-inch model, during promotions, can be yours for just $450, making it an ideal recommendation while also saving some bucks.

3. TCL T7 Series

– Newest Model

TCL T7 4K QLED TV

TCL T7 series is the brand’s new lineup that offers the latest and most modern features that one will expect. You get a QLED-Quantum Dot Technology panel with a 4K UHD panel. For gamers, this is a delight as it’s the official partner of the Call of Duty game. To that extent, you get a 120Hz high refresh rate, with a 144Hz variable refresh rate.

There’s TCL’s AiPQ processor to enhance the display experience, Game Accelerator 288, HDR Pro+ with Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, & HLG. The lineup gets Google TV OS with hands-free voice control, voice remote, Google Chromecast built-in, and AirPlay 2. Audio enthusiasts will be happy to know there’s Dolby Atmos support.

The 55-inch size is available for $380 on Amazon during this holiday season. If you have the budget, you can stretch to $500 and get the 65-inch variant.

4. TCL 4-Series / S455

– Cheapest 4K Roku TV

TCL 4-Series S455

The TCL 4-Series/S455 is one of the most popular entry-level 4K Roku TVs, especially now that it’s available at its low price. It uses a VA panel with relatively high native contrast and good black uniformity, which helps dark scenes look more convincing than on many other cheap edge-lit sets, even though it lacks local dimming entirely. You get easy voice control with Siri, Alexa, and Hey Google. The edge-to-edge design blends nicely in your living room. You can stream free TV, live news, sports, movies, etc.

It is not ideal for demanding HDR or serious competitive gaming, but for casual streaming, broadcast TV, and general use, it offers consistent performance and one of the most user-friendly smart platforms available. The 43- and 50-inch S455 models are currently available for $400 and $500, respectively.

5. TCL S4 / S450G

– Budget 4K with Google TV

TCL S4 S450G

This one is for viewers who prefer Google’s ecosystem and want to minimize spending. This budget TV brings a 4K panel with decent color accuracy and low input lag. It is suitable for light gaming and your everyday streaming needs. This gets HDR Pro (Dolby Vision, HDR10, & HLG), Motion Rate 240 with MEMC Frame Insertion, and Auto Game Mode (ALLM).

For audio, the TV gets you Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual: X. There’s Chromecast built-in, 3 HDMI inputs, and dual-band Wi-Fi. For around $500, you can get the 58-inch size for $380, while the 65-inch size version is available for $530 during the holiday sale. While it does not offer local dimming or high-end HDR performance, the combination of 4K resolution, Google TV interface, and low cost makes it a strong “no-frills” smart TV for secondary rooms or first-time 4K buyers.

Key Specs at a Glance

Model Panel / Tech Strengths Typical size under $500
TCL QM6K QD Mini-LED, 144 Hz Best all-around image and gaming under $500 55-inch (often 65-inch on sale)
TCL QM5K QD Mini-LED, 60 Hz Best 65-inch picture quality under $500 65-inch
TCL T7 QLED, up to 120 Hz Balanced image and gaming under $500 65-inch
TCL 4-Series S455 LED, 60 Hz Cheapest decent 4K Roku TV 43-55 inches
TCL S4 / S450G LED, 60 Hz Low-cost 4K with Google TV 55-65 inches

How to Choose the Right TCL TV Under $500

When buying a TV, you’ll have to start planning with room size and viewing distance. The 55-inch screen is a sweet spot for most living rooms. While the 65-inch version offers a more cinematic feel, it requires a bigger room to make the experience more pleasing. If you care about movie-like contrast and regularly watch HDR content in dim lighting, you are better off with the Mini-LED QM6K or QM5K for their local dimming and higher brightness.

For gamers, it’s always ideal to have a TV with a higher refresh rate and low input lag. Here, the QM6K and TCL T7 are particularly attractive due to their higher-refresh gaming modes. If you’re not that into the technical details and want a TV just for casual streaming, the inexpensive 4-Series S455 or S4/S450G offer plenty of value.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup isn’t just rewriting the rules of football; it’s reshaping the global TV industry. With the tournament set to be the biggest in history, industry giants like BOE and TCL are already signaling a resurgence in the television panel market. If you’ve been tracking the panel price rollercoaster over the past few years, you’ll recognize the significance: for the first time in a while, there’s a real sense of momentum.

World Cup Effect Is Real and Bigger Than Ever

Let’s start with the numbers. The 2026 World Cup expands to 48 teams, a 60 percent jump in match volume compared to previous tournaments. It stretches over 40 days, with matches across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. It’s not just a sports event; it’s a global content engine that demands screen time, literally. That translates into renewed interest in bigger, sharper, and smarter TVs.

BOE, in its latest investment briefing, paints a bullish picture. It expects demand for both IT and TV panels to climb, driven by upgrade cycles and AI features, but crucially, by the emotional and social pull of the World Cup. TCL Technology echoes the sentiment, pointing to the steady uptick in demand for large-size LCDs. As consumers prepare for the spectacle, downstream brands are already stockpiling inventory.

TV Panels Are at an Inflection Point

After months of flat or declining prices, the panel market is finally showing signs of life. Analysts forecast an inflection point in December 2025, when the combination of seasonal stocking, Spring Festival demand, and early World Cup excitement converges. According to authoritative sources, prices for 32″, 43″, 50″, and 55″ panels are stabilizing. Quotes from non-strategic customers have even ticked up by $1-2 per unit.

That might not sound like much, but in the razor-thin-margin panel business, it’s meaningful. It suggests pricing power is returning to manufacturers after a long stretch of oversupply and underwhelming consumer demand.

TCL QM7K TV

Why It’s Different This Time

Sports always spike demand, but 2026 hits different. For one, there’s a wider global audience. Two, the tech behind modern TVs like AI image upscaling, 4K/8K, Mini-LED, and OLED panels is finally reaching a level where consumers see clear upgrades from older sets. And third, the post-pandemic normalization of home entertainment habits makes big-screen upgrades feel like a justifiable splurge again.

BOE and TCL’s confidence isn’t just based on hype. Utilization rates are rising, and panel pricing, long in the dumps, is climbing back. TCL points out that despite increasing screen sizes, supply-side capacity has remained relatively stable. That creates a perfect storm: surging demand with constrained supply.

TCL TV

The Bottom Line

If you’re wondering whether the World Cup really has that kind of impact, consider this: for millions of fans, the matchday experience now starts with a panel purchase. And for the TV industry, the 2026 World Cup could be the biggest assist it’s seen in a decade.

This time, the beautiful game might just revive the flat panel.

BOE and TCL Technology have issued positive forecasts for the TV panel market in 2026. Both companies expect demand and pricing to rebound, driven by upgrade cycles, AI integration, and increased consumption ahead of major global sporting events.

BOE and TCL Say TV Panels Are Bouncing Back

BOE recently shared its outlook in an investment briefing. The company said it expects rising demand for IT and TV display panels, supported by product refresh cycles and AI-powered features. It also pointed to the 2026 World Cup and other sports events as key demand drivers. BOE said December has entered the peak stocking season, and industry analysts now predict that panel production lines will operate at high utilization rates. These conditions are likely to support price stabilization and gradual increases.

TCL echoed this sentiment in an investor Q&A. The company highlighted that the shift toward larger TV sizes has supported steady growth in total demand area over recent years. At the same time, supply-side capacity has remained stable. TCL said utilization rates for large-size LCD panels have steadily improved, and it expects this trend to continue.

TCL TV

TCL also confirmed that downstream TV brands have already begun early stocking in preparation for the 2026 sports calendar. The company said this behavior reflects strong expectations for TV sales growth ahead of global events like the World Cup.

Third-party research firms support this outlook. Multiple forecasts now suggest that TV panel prices are entering a period of stabilization, with signs of a gradual rebound in the months ahead.

The panel market has faced extended pressure from oversupply and weak consumer spending. BOE and TCL now see a turning point, with improved demand fundamentals and a more balanced supply chain. If current trends hold, panel makers could benefit from a stronger pricing environment throughout 2026.

In related news, TCL recently launched the A400 Pro QD Mini LED Art TV with a 4K 144Hz display.

TCL has launched the A400 Pro QD-Mini LED Art TV in the Chinese market. It aims to blur the line between display technology and interior design.

TCL A400 Pro Specifications

Since this is part of TCL’s Art TV series, design takes center stage. The screen sits inside a light walnut-textured frame with no visible seams, thanks to a single-piece bending process. It stays incredibly slim at just 3.99 cm for up to 75 inches and 4.45 cm for the 98-inch version.

The rear panel takes on a textured finish inspired by vintage hardbound books. TCL supports three placements: a slim wall bracket for a flush mount, a two-stage desktop stand, and an optional mobile floor mount with wheels.

On the performance side, the A400 Pro uses TCL’s QD-Mini LED tech with independent zone dimming and Quantum Dot Pro materials that cover 157% of the BT.709 gamut. It supports native 4K at 144Hz, plus 288Hz output in Game Mode. There’s also VRR, ALLM, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro baked in.

TCL A400 Pro QD Mini LED Art TV

TCL backs the visuals with the TSR AI engine, which tunes color, clarity, and motion frame by frame. The screen also adjusts brightness automatically using an ambient light sensor.

In Art Mode, the TV doubles as a digital canvas. It includes over 100 curated artworks and can generate original pieces using AI. It runs on Lingkong OS 3.0, skips boot ads, and uses the Fuxi AI model to power 18+ smart assistants for gaming, fitness, education, and more.

Pricing and Availability

The TCL A400 Pro is available in five sizes, with pricing that scales across the lineup. The 55-inch model starts at 7,999 yuan (about $1,120), while the 65-inch version is priced at 10,999 yuan (about $1,540). The 75-inch variant costs 12,999 yuan (about $1,820), the 85-inch model comes in at 14,999 yuan (about $2,100), and the top-end 98-inch version is priced at 19,999 yuan (about $2,800).

In related news, RayNeo’s Air 3s Pro AR glasses dropped to $249 during the Black Friday sale, and TCL’s T7 4K QLED Smart TV continues to draw attention for its feature set and performance in the midrange segment.

TCL has recently launched the TCL T7 4K QLED Smart TV series as its latest mid-range television lineup. The series includes 4K UHD resolution, QLED panels, high refresh rates, and Google TV integration. TCL positions the T7 as a premium entertainment and gaming TV that targets mainstream buyers without pushing the price too high.

Premium Looks Meet Sensible Design

TCL uses a bezel-less design across all T7 models. The TVs feature a minimalist look that suits wall mounting or table placement. TCL includes adjustable-width feet to allow more flexibility for setups with soundbars or compact entertainment units. This small design choice improves usability, especially in tighter spaces. Despite falling in the mid-range category, the T7 models look refined and clean.

TCL T7 TV

QLED Visuals With 144Hz Sweetness

All four models in the T7 lineup support 4K resolution at 3840 × 2160. The 55-inch variant uses a 120Hz panel, while the 65, 75, and 85-inch versions move up to a native 144Hz refresh rate. This high refresh rate improves fast-motion clarity in games and sports content.

TCL adds support for variable refresh rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), and Game Accelerator. The 85-inch model can reach up to 288 VRR, which helps reduce input lag during gameplay. These features make the T7 Series suitable for console and PC gamers who want smoother motion and lower latency.

All the HDR Formats You Could Ask For

TCL supports a wide range of HDR formats on the T7 Series. Each model handles Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, HLG, and Open HDR. This broad compatibility allows content from most major streaming platforms to play in the intended HDR format.

The AiPQ Pro processor powers TCL’s picture enhancement. It adjusts image settings in real time to boost contrast, color accuracy, and detail sharpness. The QLED panel supports 1.07 billion display colors and uses a high-brightness LED backlight to improve image clarity in bright environments.

TCL T7 TV

Smarter, Louder Smart TV

The T7 Series runs on Google TV. This platform gives access to thousands of apps and services, including Netflix, YouTube, and Disney+. Built-in Chromecast and Apple AirPlay 2 support allow wireless casting from Android and iOS devices.

TCL adds far-field microphones to all T7 models. This allows voice control without using the remote. The TVs also support Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Apple HomeKit for smart home control. TCL includes a backlit voice remote and ships the unit with AAA batteries.

The 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch models include a 2.0-channel speaker system, ranging from 20W to 30W. The 85-inch model features a 2.1 Onkyo speaker system with a built-in subwoofer and a total output of 40W. All models support Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital+ formats to enhance spatial audio.

Ports, Power, and Peace of Mind

TCL includes four HDMI ports on each T7 TV, with one port supporting eARC. The TVs also come with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet input, optical digital audio out, and RF input for antenna or cable. Wireless connectivity uses Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac).

Other included features are sleep timer, multilingual on-screen display, closed captions, JPEG/MP3 playback from USB, and accessibility options. Power consumption remains under 0.5W in standby mode. The TVs do not carry Energy Star certification. Each model supports VESA wall mounting.

TCL T7 TV

Value Without Compromise

TCL prices the 55-inch T7 at $599.99. The 65-inch model costs $699.99, the 75-inch version is listed at $899.99, and the 85-inch model comes in at $1,399.99. These prices make the T7 Series competitive in the mid-range segment. TCL has not announced a specific release date, but availability is expected by the end of the year.

The T7 Series checks many boxes for buyers who want a high-performance smart TV without entering the premium OLED or Mini LED space. With QLED visuals, 144Hz gaming support, advanced HDR compatibility, and solid audio options, the T7 Series stands out as a complete and well-rounded offering in its price class.

In related news, TCL CSOT showcases its printed OLED, Micro LED, MLED, and tri-fold display technologies at DTC2025, and TCL leads Double 11 TV sales once again as it strengthens its premium position with SQD Mini LED technology.

TCL led TV sales across the entire Double 11 shopping cycle in China, securing the top position and demonstrating strong brand momentum. The company achieved significant growth during the sales period, backed by its vertically integrated manufacturing and continuous investment in display technologies.

TCL’s performance highlights its ability to address diverse market demands through a complete supply chain that spans panels, modules, and finished units. This end-to-end control allows the company to fine-tune picture quality, performance, and reliability, ensuring consistent product standards and faster deployment of new technologies to consumers.

According to market research firm Omdia, TCL ranked among the top two global TV brands by shipment volume from Q1 to Q3 2025. It maintained its lead among Chinese brands, further strengthening its presence in the global premium TV segment.

Double 11 TV Sales

The key driver of TCL’s success this year is its new SQD-Mini LED technology. Unlike conventional RGB-Mini LED systems that use three chips to create white light, SQD-Mini LED relies on a single chip. This approach improves light efficiency and allows three times more local dimming zones without increasing LED count. The result is significantly higher contrast and peak brightness, which enhances image detail and clarity.

The TCL X11L is the first flagship model to feature SQD-Mini LED technology. It showcases improved contrast, better transparency, and more precise light control, setting a new benchmark in high-end TV performance.

TCL’s leading position throughout the Double 11 period underscores the company’s strong technological foundation and growing consumer trust. The brand continues to drive innovation in home entertainment, reinforcing its role as a key player in the global display industry.

In related news, TCL has introduced its new T7 QLED TVs with 4K resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and Google TV, starting at $599.99.

TCL is expanding its 2025 Google TV lineup with the new T7 Series, a range of 4K QLED TVs that promise high refresh rates, rich visuals, and strong gaming credentials without breaking the bank. Announced as a more affordable alternative to its high-end QD-Mini LED sets, the TCL T7 QLED TVs slot neatly into the mid-tier with plenty of premium touches.

TCL T7 4K QLED TV Specifications

The T7 Series is available in four sizes: 55, 65, 75, and 85 inches. While the 55-inch model sticks to a 120Hz native refresh rate, the larger models bump that up to 144Hz, making them suitable for fast-paced gaming and sports. TCL pairs its Quantum Dot panels with the AiPQ Pro processor, which handles real-time color and contrast adjustments for better 4K HDR visuals. Support for HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HLG, and Open HDR is standard across the lineup.

Audio gets a solid upgrade too. All models feature Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital+ support, with the 85-inch version stepping up to a 2.1-channel Onkyo speaker setup with 40W output. For connectivity, users get four HDMI ports (including eARC), USB 3.0 and 2.0, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi 5. The TVs also support Chromecast, AirPlay 2, and voice assistants like Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit.

Running on Google TV, the T7 Series offers access to thousands of apps, hands-free voice control via far-field mics, and smart home integration. It also supports Apple and Android casting, plus advanced gaming features like Game Accelerator 288 and Auto Low Latency Mode.

Prices start at $599.99 for the 55-inch model and go up to $1,399.99 for the 85-inch. TCL hasn’t confirmed an exact release date yet, but the T7 Series looks positioned to challenge more expensive QLED and Mini LED rivals in 2025.

Global TV shipments are showing signs of fatigue. According to the latest data from TrendForce, total shipments in the third quarter of 2025 dropped to 49.75 million units, a 4.9% year-over-year decline, and the first time Q3 figures have dipped below the 50 million mark. Despite a 6% sequential uptick from Q2, the market continues to face headwinds from weaker consumer demand and shifting global dynamics.

TrendForce attributes the slump to extended replacement cycles and the early pull-forward of demand caused by economic uncertainty. In China, where government subsidies previously helped boost local sales, the fading of those incentives has led to a measurable contraction in the domestic market. Together, these factors have slowed momentum for an industry still recovering from the post-pandemic surge in TV upgrades.

TCL QD-MiniLED Q8C TV

The research firm expects a rebound in Q4 as brands push through heavy promotional activity during key shopping seasons like Double 11 and Double 12 in China, as well as Black Friday in Western markets. Shipments are forecast to climb 7.3% quarter-on-quarter to 53.21 million units. Even so, full-year figures are projected to total just 195.59 million units, a 1.2% annual decline.

Samsung maintained its lead as the top global TV brand, followed by Hisense, TCL, LG Electronics, and Xiaomi, together commanding 64.3% of total shipments. Hisense saw the biggest momentum shift, moving from a conservative first half to an assertive pricing strategy in the second. Its Q3 shipments rose 9.7% quarter-on-quarter to 7.66 million units, securing the second spot globally and a 15.4% market share, its highest yet.

While the U.S. market remains relatively stable, the global TV landscape appears to be entering a mature phase, one where innovation, affordability, and brand agility will define who leads the next growth cycle.
